"One giant leap for mankind..." It was 48 years ago today that Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Believe it or not, SVEC had a small part in that historical mission. Part of the spacecraft traveled through the Sequatchie Valley in January 1966, on its way to Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma. SVEC crews traveled with it, moving power lines and anchors so the gigantic module could safely reach its destination. Duck River Electric crews took over clearing Highway 41 of power lines where our service areas meet near Grundy County.
